Vlado Kostov, "Street musicians"

Opening ceremony:

Gallery 212, Vlajkovićeva 25
The exhibition will be open till December 1, 2015

Gallery 212 will present the latest works by the Macedonian artist Vlado Kostov. The exhibition named "Street musicians" contains sculptures created from scrap material in 2014 and 2015. The new cycle of works is inspired by the author's meeting a ten-year old girl Jovana who plays the violin in Knez Mihailova Street in Belgrade.

The name of the latest works cycle, Street musicians, implicitly alludes to its consideration with content. Just like the previous themes, this one also focuses on the particular characteristics of this calling, materialized in sculpted metallic forms. Raised to a level which reveals their quintessence, the exhibited works present an existential wondering which evolves from personal to universal meaning. Aside from their visual quality and energy expressed through shapes, the strength of the sculpted representations is also based on their structural elements. Using recycled objects, the author insists on social responsibility of a modern man and his attitude towards nature. In the time of general globalization, drawing attention to an individual as the nucleus of the society and the surroundings as an integral part of the chain of life, the author gives his sculptures a socially invested context.
